The Bridal Party: Roles & Duties

Are you recently engaged? If so, you are probably thinking about who should be in your wedding party! We have seen wedding parties of all sizes. Some couples choose not to have a wedding party, and others invite their entire sorority to be part of the bridal party!

The most important things to consider when choosing your bridal party members, is that they will keep the energy high and be helpful leading up to and on the wedding day. Though it's truly an honor to be asked to be a bridesmaid, it is no small task, so keep that in mind when thinking about who you will ask. It's a good idea to ask people who are supportive of you and your partner, have time to help with planning and attend pre-wedding festivities, and will keep things light and positive on the wedding day. You'll spend the morning getting pampered, drinking mimosas and taking photos, so it's beneficial to have an awesome bride squad!

Let's be real, there are a few different "types" of bridesmaids in every bridal party, right?

What are they you might ask?

THE DEBBIE DOWNER

This bridesmaid complains about everything; Don't let it get to you. Once they get a glass of wine in their hands, they're just fine!

THE "WEDDING PLANNER"

This bridesmaid offers unsolicited advice on everything throughout the entire planning process from the flowers to the napkin color. But in a bind, she pulls out a Tampax or an Advil so maybe she kinda is your wedding planner?

THE VERY SINGLE BRIDESMAID

This bridesmaid signs every email in the bachelorette party thread with "Singly yours." and loves to mention how single she is at every wedding festivity.

THE PARTY GIRL

This bridesmaid is the one who brings all the inappropriate props to the bachelorette party and insists on doing shots every 10 minutes. There's never a dull moment with this one!

THE SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGIST

This bridesmaid sent you 50 different ideas for your wedding hashtag and created a geotag for your wedding day. She will make sure everyone knows you had the BEST. WEDDING. EVER.

THE COUSIN NOBODY KNOWS

This bridesmaid is the cousin nobody has ever met before. She's the wildcard who could either be super fun or super weird.

THE LITERAL GODSEND

This bridesmaid is calm, sane and organized. She's got your back and will take on the role of wrangling all the bridesmaids when needed. She's down with anything and the most helpful of the bunch!
